Muscular Dystrophy

D.M.D. is a devastating disorder that will continually weaken all of Preston’s muscles, including his heart. As is common with those suffering from D.M.D, Preston will lose his ability to walk around the age of 10, be completely dependent on others by the time he is 18, and have a lifespan of around 25 years.

There currently is no cure for muscular dystrophy, although progress has been made in developing gene therapies and medications which may help in slowing the adverse effects of this disorder. The gene therapies, however, have only been developed for specific genetic mutations of D.M.D.
